NEW MUSIC in NEW YORK and NORTH AMERICA is a non-profit organization that seeks to foster and facilitate conversations and connections to help under-served New Music Creators grow.
“New Music” is work created by living composers and those who may have never received recognition for their work during their lifetimes.
It started as an idea to lift up New Music composers.
As a composer Leonardo Le San believes there is an asymmetry of representation between contemporary living artists and traditional composers of the past. The attention new works receive is minimal in comparison. For a New Music composer it can be difficult to connect resources and find a way to be heard. The focus with NMNYNA is to highlight composers and musicians who create in the contemporary New Music classical and jazz spaces, and who perform in New York and throughout North America.
At NMNYNA we create opportunities to feature artists through our programs and podcast.
